The center is strategically located, directly next to the pier of the port of La Restinga. No long hauling, the boat is barely 50 m away! Group sizes are very pleasant and an individual diving experience is guaranteed.
New equipment and good storage facilities are available, as always at an Extra Divers Dive Centers. In the shop there are favorable and useful items to buy, charging stations, and wet/dry storage facilities offer the diver enough space; also a cozy "après dive" is possible, for sure!
Our dive center on El Hierro will be closed on December 1st of this year!
Diving/Dive spots
El Hierro, the smallest of the Canary Islands group, provides the best diving, along with an unusual landscape. The volcanic island is fancifully covered, mountain pine groves line the middle of the island. On the south side of the island awaits the exceptional town of La Restinga, where diving is quite the center of attention!
One who studies the coastline also knows: the sea in the south of La Restinga is called "Mar calma" because of its extremely sheltered location! Exceptionally quiet Atlantic waters allow the dive sites to be close by. In just 10-30 minutes, via the large Zodiac, the best dive sites are reached. Particularly "El Bajón", an extinct volcanic crater which rises from the depths up to 15 m, is home to an unusually large number of fish! Also larger residents make an appearance: barracudas, manta rays, large zackies and sometimes even whale sharks! And all that with the most crystal-clear water! Where the macro world is nothing to sneeze at, and makes every dive a tour of discovery.
The most famous dive site is the cooled underwater volcano "El Bajón", but according to the insider tip of the base manager, there are even more spectacular dive sites.
Team & Education
The team of Extra Divers El Hierro is professional managed by Gundula Meisel-Blohm. All dive courses according to SSI- and CMAS standards are provided.
