The Extra Divers centre at Temple Point is located directly on the waterfront of the Temple Point Resort. The resort is approximately 120 km from Mombasa Airport in Kenya, set in the heart of the Watamu Marine National Park, directly on the Indian Ocean. The small town of Watamu is just a 5-minute drive away. Transfers from other hotels in Watamu to the dive centre can be arranged upon request.
Diving around Watamu – Variety and Adventure
The coastal waters around Watamu in the Indian Ocean offer diverse dive sites for both beginners and experienced divers. Here, you’ll find vibrant coral reefs, fascinating schools of fish, and impressive large marine species in the clear waters of the Watamu Marine National Park.
But it’s not just the underwater world that’s worth exploring – the region is perfect for combining your dive trip with a safari to the world-famous Tsavo East, Tsavo West or Masai Mara National Parks, where you can experience Africa’s unique wildlife up close.
Important Notes:
• The dive centre is closed annually in May and June due to weather conditions.
• Diving on the outer reefs is always weather-dependent, especially after the monsoon season.

Diving/Dive spots
The Extra Divers dive centre is just a few steps from the jetty. Thanks to its ideal location on Mida Creek, trips to the Watamu Marine National Park are possible regardless of the tide. The intact and varied reefs in this area offer a stunning variety of marine life, including various coral species and numerous residents like octopuses, glassfish, lobsters, crabs, groupers, moray eels, and large rays.
The dive sites are characterised by large overhangs, channels, and vibrant coral gardens, home to a wide range of species. Macro enthusiasts will find colourful nudibranchs, mantis shrimps, leaf scorpionfish, cleaner shrimp, and even ribbon eel. With a bit of luck, you might encounter almost everything the underwater world has to offer.
Diving Season:
The best time for diving is from October to March.

• 16 dive sites with depths ranging from 8 to 40 metres
• Reachable in 20 to 40 minutes by boat
• Water temperatures between 24° and 28° Celsius

Team & Education
The dive centre has been run by Matthias and his team since its opening.
Training is conducted according to SSI standards in both German and English, from Open Water Diver to a range of popular specialties.
