The fantastic, newly opened diving resort under Swiss management is off the beaten tack. The Moluccas or "Spice Islands" lie between Sulawesi and New Guinea. The area has lain dormant for many years and even today there are very few tourists to be found. As the region has many intact coral reefs , there is an unbelievable wealth of species for both macro and big fish fans. Divers and nature lovers will get their money's worth on the Moluccas!
Indonesia / Extra Divers Spice Island
Diving/Dive spots
Extra Divers professional diving centre under Swiss management is located directly at the resort's jetty. The untouched area makes divers' hearts beat faster, because here you can discover both macro and big fish- a highlight. Divers can choose between house reef diving, boat trips and minibus trips to the Magic Jetty muck diving site. The house reef has a jetty, which guarantees easy entry and exit. More than 40 pristine dive sites are just 10-20 minutes boat ride from the resort. The dives take place in small groups with a maximum of 4 divers per guide. In addition to easy-to-dive macro dive sites and coral gardens, there are also channels with strong currents with chances of big fish. Two diving boats are available for diving trips.
Due to the sensational biodiversity, the North Moluccas guarantee unique dives.
On almost every dive you will meet several black tip sharks, sometimes also grey and white tip sharks on steep walls with strong currents. Turtles, mackerel and bumphead parrotfish are also spotted at the dive sites. An absolute highlight is the endemic and rare Halmahara Walking Shark, which walks over the reef, in particular during night dives. Colourful coral gardens with bright colours and densely overgrown cliffs, offer impressive photo opportunities. There are huge intact hard corals, colourful sponges and numerous fan corals. But that's not all: Macro lovers will also be delighted, because the reefs offer tons of macro highlights. With the help of our experienced dive guides you will discover rare bobbit worms, pygmy seahorses, frogfish, ghost pipefish, nudibranchs, leaf fish, various octopuses as well as harlequin and boxer shrimp. Another highlight is worth mentioning: you will hardly ever see other divers during the dives, since the area has hardly been developed for tourism.
Due to the remote location of the resort, guests must have valid travel health and diving insurance (DAN, aqua med or similar) and prove this on site.
