HOUSE REEF DIVING PLUS THE BEST DIVE SITES AROUND EL QUSEIR AND PORT GHALIB
Our new Extra Divers center will open on November 1st, 2022. The dive center is located on the hotel grounds of the popular Akassia Resorts about 25km south of El Quseir. All known diving spots around El Quseir and Port Ghalib are offered by minibus or boat tour, the fantastic reef directly in front of the hotel beach guarantees beautiful house reef dives.
The interesting and colorful house reef is right in front of the hotel and is easily accessible via two jettys. The reef lies in a north-south direction and consists of a steep slope resembling a curtain with many folds, giving plenty of room for variety. The diving depths are variable, for beginners and advanced divers there are all possibilities for varied dives in the range of 5-30m, but in the end the reef drops well over 50m. Normally there is a light north-south current, therefore the view at the house reef is mostly clear. The entry and exit is possible via two jetties, which are perfect for comfortable "one-way" dive. The jettys are about 400 m apart. Near the southern jetty there is a small cave at about 30m.
The reef consists of soft and hard corals and is very intact, so there are numerous fish species to see. A look into the blue water is also worthwhile, because eagle rays, barracudas, turtles and napoleons often drop by. There has also been a visit from a whale shark quite often. Diving on the house reef offers great variety for both beginners and experienced divers.
Port Ghalib port is only about 25 minutes drive south of the dive center. The day boat trips depart from Port Ghalib. Minibus trips (half-day and full-day tours) start directly at the dive center. Speedboat tours depart from our partner base at Three Corners Equinox Resort.
The Extra Divers dive center is under German-speaking management. The well-trained and experienced team trains multilingual in small groups according to SSI and PADI standards from Open Water Diver to Instructor as well as all common specialties. Trial dives and special diving courses for children aged 8 and over are also offered regularly. Nitrox is free for certified nitrox divers.

Important Notice: New entertainment tax in Egypt
Unfortunately, the Egyptian parliament quickly, secretly and without warning passed a new type of entertainment tax, which must be paid to the Egyptian tax office from July 16, 2023.
Unfortunately, this amusement tax also applies to all diving services and so we, like all other diving centers on the Red Sea, must pay this tax to the state from July 16, 2023.
The tax rate is 10% on the full invoice amount and unfortunately, we must collect this 10% on the final invoice amount from July 16th. All other taxes such as the statutory sales tax (value add tax) of currently 14%. are still included in our prices.
A permit fee of approx. € 4 or € 7 per day/person (house reef or boat & minibus) will be charged on site.
