Egypt / Extra Divers Lahami Bay

NEW from April 1, 2026 – Egypt’s Southernmost Dive Center

Opening in early April 2026, the newest Extra Divers dive center will also be Egypt’s southernmost. It is located directly on the grounds of the Lahami Bay Resort, right on the beach of a spacious bay. Marsa Alam Airport is about 180 km away (approx. 2.5 hours by car), while the new Berenice Airport is only around 20 km away.

Divers can choose between house reef dives or boat excursions by Zodiac, speedboat, or day boat to explore the most stunning sites around Hamata and Berenice – many of which until now have only been accessible via liveaboards. All day boat trips depart conveniently from the hotel’s private jetty, while Zodiac and speedboat trips start directly from the beach in front of the dive center.

The reefs around Hamata are among Egypt’s most spectacular diving areas. Impressive reefs along the coastline, lush hard and soft coral gardens, fascinating wrecks, and dramatic drop-offs ensure an incredible variety of underwater adventures. Famous sites such as Sha‘ab Claudio, Abu Galawa, Sha‘ab Maksur, and the renowned Sataya Reef with its resident dolphin pod will make every diver’s heart beat faster.

Diving/Dive spots

Right in front of the dive center’s beach station lies a spacious, weather-protected bay with a banana-shaped coral ridge stretching over 1.5 kilometers. Guests with more than 25 logged dives may explore this impressive diversity of corals and fish together with a buddy – without the mandatory accompaniment of a guide. Tanks and weights are available around the clock, enabling even night dives, where the reef reveals a completely new perspective with its nocturnal inhabitants.
In addition to the beach dive sites, the outer house reef offers a total of seven different dive spots, which can be reached by the center’s own Zodiac. Regular trips depart at 9:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., with individual tours available on request.
From 8:00 a.m., the day boats depart from the hotel’s private marina. A typical day trip includes two dives, though guests may also choose to spend their time on board relaxing. Upon request, three dives per day are possible.
A special highlight is the excursion to Sataya Kebir Reef, also known as the “Dolphin House.” After a 1.5–2 hour boat ride, guests reach the 3.5 km long reef, where there is a unique opportunity to snorkel with dolphins. The boat anchors in a sheltered spot inside the reef before continuing on to the dolphins. The outer reef of Sataya also offers excellent snorkeling.
After diving, complimentary tea is served on the full-day boats. Cold drinks are available for purchase, and a varied and highly recommended lunch can be booked for just €7 per person, payable directly to the guide in cash.
Safety is always the top priority: every dive boat is equipped with an oxygen system and first aid kit. At the dive center, guests will find large rinse tanks for equipment as well as lockable gear storage boxes. Naturally, the house reef is also perfect for snorkelers, beginner divers, and students.

Team & Education

The dive center is run by a professional, multilingual team. Training follows SSI standards, one of the world’s largest and most modern training organizations. Courses are offered in German, English, and Arabic.

PADI courses are also available on request. In addition, there are special programs and diving activities for children aged 8 and up.
