Dive Safari / MY Oman Explorer

Boat

The popular liveaboard Oman Explorer (formerly Saman Explorer) is managed by Extra Divers Worldwide and has been sailing to the Sultanate's most beautiful diving areas since 2011. Depending on the season, north or south tours are offered. The spacious steel ship was completely renovated in summer 2015 and offers space for 22 divers in 11 comfortable cabins! The international crew consists of about 10 members and 1-2 dive guides, the language on board is English. In addition to a spacious dive deck and the air-conditioned saloon, there is a huge sun deck with shaded areas and a large, comfortable seating area on the upper deck.

Equipment and Cabines

Our guests are accommodated in 10 double cabins on the upper and lower deck, as well as a spacious master cabin. All cabins are equipped with fan, cupboard, air conditioning, bathroom with shower and toilet. Towels (for the cabin and the sun deck) and a hair dryer are also available. The cabins have two single beds (each 1m x 2m). From the upper deck cabins you have a beautiful view of the sea! The large master cabin (approx. 20sqm) is located on the main deck, offers a king-size double bed and, in addition to the equipment of the standard cabins, a fridge and TV.

Catering

Full board including coffee, tea, juice and water. Snacks or afternoon snacks are also included in the price. Beer and wine are available on board for a fee. The tasty meals are mostly served in buffet form in the air-conditioned salon.

Diving

3-4 dives daily including night dives. There is no diving on the day of embarkation and disembarkation (Saturday). Friday is the last diving day with 1-2 dives. Depending on the number of guests, there are 1-2 dive guides on board. A detailed briefing takes place before each dive. Diving is done with 12 liter aluminum tanks (DIN/INT) - 15l steel tanks upon prior notification and surcharge. Nitrox is offered for a fee. The diving platform has sinks and freshwater showers. The spacious dive deck offers boxes and sufficient storage space for equipment. Diving is done from the two zodiacs or from the diving platform.

Diving in Oman
Oman can be easily reached by plane from Europe in just 6-7 hours and is a real alternative to the Red Sea. Divers enjoy the privilege of mostly being alone at the dive sites. The maximum depth of the diving spots varies between 15 and 30 meters and there are no strong currents. That's why both beginners and advanced divers get their money's worth in Oman. Numerous schools of fish are attracted by the plankton-rich water. Many rare moray eels, leopard sharks, stingrays, colorful nudibranchs, turtles, cuttlefish and eagle rays can be spotted during the dives. In addition, all underwater inhabitants in Oman are slightly larger than elsewhere. At the right time of year, a whale shark or sunfish could also pass by. In the southern part of the Hallaniyat Islands there is a resident population of humpback whales - with a bit of luck you can hear whale songs while diving! The reefs are a mixture of field plateaus, walls and coral gardens in the shallows - partly bare, elsewhere covered with colorful hard and soft corals. Visibility can vary from 5 to 20 meters due to the nutrient-rich water and thermocline, but the abundance of fish makes up for it.

Dive Safari

7-night tours. Arrival and departure on Saturdays. In addition, 10-night Best-of-Oman tours from north to south and vice versa are offered twice a year. Upon arrival at the airport, our guests are greeted by one of our employees. Alternatively, we can also pick up our guests at a hotel. Check-in on board starts at 2pm. Upon arrival, a delicious lunch will be served. The ship departs either in the late evening or the next morning. On the 6th day the ship returns to the port (time depends on the tide). On the 7th day of the trip, check-out takes place after breakfast at 9 a.m. followed by transfer to the airport.
